May and June have been incredibly busy. Just last week I had Kristine and Télcio’s photoshoot (exactly a week ago!), a Bat Mitzvah service the next day, a wedding on Saturday and a Bat Mitzvah party on Sunday! The other days? Using to edit all the photo shoots and weddings from two, three weeks before. My friends tell me they wish they could “only work on weekends”, but I’m pretty sure I work more than most of them. ;)

Weather hasn’t been that great so we’re also having lots of rescheduling, but I was so glad I was able to work with Kristine and Télcio last Wednesday. I’m completely in love with this photo session – I could literally post all photos from this shoot.

Kristine and Télcio are from Brazil and were actually in their honeymoon when these photos were taken. A friend of theirs had shot a maternity photo shoot with me and told them about my work. They only had one week left here in Canada, I didn’t have that many days available, it was raining almost every single day, but thankfully weather decided to cooperate on one of the few days we were both available.

The sunshine last Wednesday was just gorgeous!! Kristine decided to wear the wedding dress that belonged to her mom and honestly, that made the photos even more special! Let me share some of my favorites with you. :)

Kristine and Télcio, congrats on your wedding and thanks so much for letting me capture such a special moment in your lives. ♥

Let me tell you something: different from what you read on every wedding photographer’s “About Me”, I never dreamed of becoming a professional photographer. When I was a little girl I wanted to be writer – I used to write a lot when I was 6-7 thinking that maybe I would get those “books” published one day. Then I became a teenager and completely forgot about it.

Once I had to choose a major in University, I picked Japanese. Why? Don’t ask me, I had no idea what I was doing career wise. Some months later, I decided to study IT. Yes, I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I worked many, many years as a web programmer and although I was pretty good at it, I never really loved that career.

Photography was always there, ever since I was a kid – I used to take millions of photos and had a pretty popular Fotolog. People would tell me how talented I was, however I never thought of earning a living out of that.

If you asked me what was my dream job in my early 20s, I’d say working at Disney World. Doing whatever. Just wanted to be at Magic Kingdom every single day of my life. To this day I love that place and I basically work to support my Disney addiction. Anyways… working at Disney World was not doable for many obvious reasons. However, I have to admit: I’m happy doing this. Really happy. Even though it was never a “dream” I was pursuing. Capturing milestones in people’s lives is wonderful and I’m aware of how lucky I am to be able to make a decent living out of photography.

I mentioned Disney World because that was where I got a call from Ashwin asking me if I was available to shoot their wedding day last month. I honestly thought he was joking since he called me in February – yes, February of THIS year. Turns out it wasn’t a prank call. LOL

I worked with Anna about 5 years ago and I could not believe she still remembered me. Even though their wedding day was just a month away, they also wanted an engagement shoot (which you can view here. check it out later, it’s definitely worth it!). We had the E-Session 4 (yes, FOUR) days before their wedding day.

In the end, everything turn out great – I loved their engagement shoot and can’t even start on how I’m in love with every single picture from this wedding.

This was my first 2015 wedding and I could have not asked for a better couple. Be prepared: this will be a super long post. They had TWO ceremonies: an Indian one and a Polish one. The reception was so full of entertainment and great moments that it was hard to pick which ones were going to be here.

Enough talking – let me share some of my favorite moments with you!

Congrats, Anna and Ashwin! I had an amazing time working with you two! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness. ♥

This post goes to show that you really don’t need a photographer for the entire day to capture all the great moments you want to remember from your wedding day. This beautiful beautiful wedding was captured in only 6 hours! Well, it also helps if you’re getting ready super close to your venue and don’t want thousands of portraits before & after ceremony.

When I met Tara I felt she was very practical. She and Ryan didn’t want an e-session and didn’t want to spend their entire wedding day posing for photos. So we did just a few of getting ready, went straight to ceremony, spend about an hour outside and went back inside to enjoy the reception. Can’t forget to mention they were super brave about having their portraits done during a freezing and windy windy windy night at the Distillery District.

Tara’s and Ryan’s wedding was definitely one of my favorites to shoot this past year: their wedding was really intimate – they had about 50 guests if I remember correctly. What I love about small weddings is that you can tell that everybody that is there really matters to them and they are all so into the moment. And that’s what photographers love – capturing those special non-manufactured moments throughout the night.

Congrats, Tara and Ryan! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness. ♥

I could have not asked for a better couple to close my 2014 wedding season. I absolutely loved working with Lina & Eric and all their wedding party!

They got married this past November at the Westin Prince in Toronto, followed by the traditional 10-course chinese dinner reception (yummy!). Lina was a bit worried about being too cold and dark during her portraits session, but we got some amazing photos during that night. (as you can see above!)

Even though I had tons of fun during Door Games, the most creative one I have ever shot, I won’t be posting any of the photos here (Eric and the guys will thank me for that! LOL).

Congratulations, Lina and Eric, hope you guys have a wonderful life together! ♥

This was my shortest wedding of the year – everything you see here was captured in 4 hours only! Even though we don’t have getting ready shots nor a wedding party I had to post this because I adored the classic feel their day had.

They got married at Sassafraz, a really great venue for intimate weddings like theirs. Going around Yorkville was a bit tough because it was the windiest day ever, but we still manage to get amazing shots out of it.

Congrats, Kristen and Marc! Wishing you a life filled with love and happiness! ♥

If I were to rank my favorite engagement shoots from this year so far, this couple would easily be on my top 3 list. I absolutely loved Melanie and Jeff engagement session at High Park (click here to view it!) and could not wait for their wedding at the cool and brand new Airship 37.

Their wedding photos started right at the Distillery District – no first looks nor getting ready photos. Melanie didn’t feel like she needed it and, although I do love taking pictures of those moments, I’m not sure if I would want it either if it was my wedding day (I got married a long, long, long time ago when people didn’t even think of having getting ready photos – hey, I’m not that old, it just happens that I got married at 19).

Decoration at the ceremony was simple and beautiful – super kawaii origami and the blue palette was stunning! It went so well with Melanie’s eyes. I liked it so much because you could truly see how it all came together perfectly. At the reception, instead of games, I had the privilege to watch some amazing Odori dance and drumming performances. Guests were completely blown away by those.

Congrats, Melanie and Jeff! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness. ♥

I was super excited about this wedding because, 1st: loved Lo & Chris e-session and I knew that they would give me amazing photos during their wedding day; 2nd: they were getting married at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, which is an amazing venue!

Forecast was calling for thunderstorms on that Saturday, but we got a pretty bright day – it was also Doors Open Toronto, so we had to deal with lots of people everywhere! Good thing Lo & Chris were okay being on the spotlight and we manage to capture great shots in a very tight schedule.

Congrats, Lo & Chris! It’s so great to see two awesome people like you getting married. Love and best wishes always! ♥

You might remember these two from a really challenging E-Session (will never forget running away from mosquitoes!!). Dora and Paul are really cute couple that decided to wear Converse shoes for the wedding. LOVED IT! Wish Converse would see this and turn it into an advert. :)

This was a very lovely intimate wedding – they exchanged vows in front of their family and two of their closest friends at the beautiful Old Mill Inn.

A couple of weeks before the wedding we were a bit worried about the weather. Forecast wasn’t that great for their big day so they decided to book Knox College, which is a gorgeous location for indoor photos. We were really lucky – by the time we actually needed to be outdoors, the rain had stopped so we were able to get some amazing photos outdoors as well.

Congrats, Dora and Paul! Wishing you lots of joy and happiness always. ♥

First wedding of 2014! :)

Loved starting my wedding year with Erin and Mark. I had tons of fun during our e-session last Fall and I was counting the days for their big day at Archeo, a really cool venue for intimate weddings inside the Distillery District.

I remember shooting weddings in March and it was never this freezing cold. I really don’t know how Erin was able to walk around Distillery with no jacket at all. Bravest bride I’ve had so far! We even tried some sparklers photo during the night, but the wind and cold didn’t help us at all – well, at least we got one cute clumsy heart drawing to remember (which you can see at the end of this post).

The highlight of their wedding day was the Pyebaek, a Korean wedding custom. It’s a beautiful ceremony where the parents share some wisdom on marriage. They also throw jujubes (I’ve seen chestnuts at other ceremonies as well) at the bride and groom, which represent their wish for lots of grandchildren. I’m really lucky to live in a country where I can shoot so many cultures and traditions.

Erin and Mark, congratulations! You suit each other perfectly. May your every day together be a joyous ride. ♥

Last post of the year. 2013 was a very good year – I’ve never been so busy! It was great working in amazing venues such as this one, the Hart House. Weather was pretty good for October and we were able to have the ceremony outside. Reality is, anywhere you go around UofT is pretty much gorgeous, so it wouldn’t really matter if we were having everything indoors. Of course, I can’t complain of now having these beautiful images from the Quad.

The bride looked stunning! Loved loved her hair style – she looked like one of those movie actresses from the 50s. This couple wanted to spend as much time as possible with their friends and family, so we had very little time for their portraits (15, 20 minutes tops!). They wanted a classic feel to their photos and I’m really proud of the results. I’m usually not a fan of just doing classic poses, but I do think this venue in particular is perfect for that.

Let me share some of my favorites with you!

p.s.: Even though I’m still working every single weekend (and it’s already December!), I will take some time off this blog for a bit. It’s really unfortunate, but I didn’t have time to post all weddings, families and engagement sessions I’d like to. I will keep posting new work on my Facebook page – so make sure you check that out every now and then. See you all next year! :)
