This is, by far (and so far), my favorite wedding venue from 2013. The Fermenting Cellar, at the Distillery District, is amazing! I’d definitely get married there. I love those walls and I must say that this couple had a really good taste when it came to decor.

Some weeks prior this wedding, as we were talking about maybe not having enough time for wedding party portraits, I said to the bride that I’d just stick to the classic shots (everybody looking at the camera, boys to one side, girls to the other, etc). For my surprise, she couldn’t care less for these kind of photos. I was over the moon about that, because, in fact, I’m not a fan of those as well.

Shooting this wedding just took me back to when I first started, when I used to be 100% photo-journalistic driven. Then, years went by and I just noticed that some couples missed the classic posed shots, so I decide to incorporate that to my work. Of course I will still be doing those because I know most people would like to have them anyways, but it was so good to capture the whole day the more natural as possible.

Let me share some of my favorites with you.

Shannon and Graham’s wedding was definitely one of the most expected by me this year. King Edward Hotel has one of the most amazing locations to shoot at and I was counting the days to be able to work at their famous Crystal Ballroom.

What can I say about this couple? They were so sweet! Their vows were definitely the most beautiful I ever heard this year! Also, thumbs up to them for donating to charity instead of giving wedding favors. I have always liked that idea – it’s so much better to spend money helping others instead of buying something that will probably be thrown away in the end! Okay – before I get some hate mail, I do love taking pictures of cute wedding favours (and I actually have some really cute ones from awesome couples that I worked with), but personally, I’d also do the charity thing.

This was one of the very few sunny weekends we had this year, but even if it did rain, we wouldn’t need to worry just because the venue itself is already gorgeous. Can’t forget to mention that we went to the subway and took some pretty cool images! Let me share my favorites with you.

Shannon and Graham, congrats! May your life be filled with love, laughter and happiness always!

OFF-TOPIC: It’s been a while since I don’t post family shoots over here, but I’ve been posting lots of new family images on my FB page – so please don’t forget to like my page in order to get my latest work. ;)

What a great intimate wedding at Sassafraz last September! It was supposed to rain all day, but luckily, it stopped once it was time for portraits outside. Tarin and her mom did an amazing job with all the decor… it was cuteness at its best! Take a look at the personalized M&Ms her mom ordered.

I usually finish the blogpost the B&G first dance, but today I had to post the Bride and Father/Groom and Mother dances as well. I wish I had time to post some other highlights from the reception since I got to capture so much joy and happiness that night!

Tarin and Thomas, congrats! You two are perfect together; wishing you love and happiness always. :)

This is Jaime and Rob’s wedding at the beautiful Old Mill Inn in Toronto. This couple was so much fun and I will truly miss working with them! Their family is also amazing – I love it when relatives really like being around each other because it makes my life easier (= lots of Kodak moments!).

They also incorporated the movie UP into some small details from their wedding – it was hard not to cry when they left the chapel to Married Life. Anyone that reads this blog knows that I love anything that has to do with Disney – it still breaks my heart when I get called back to work for the mouse and I have to say “No” because I just can’t seem to find the time to do it. :(

If you ever get that mailbox installed, Jaime, call me. We need to recreate this picture.

Congrats, Jaime and Rob! May you guys live happily ever after. :)

It poured all day during Anne and Richard’s wedding day. Good thing the ceremony and reception were held at amazing venues – the Holy Name church in Danforth and the Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville, so there was little to worry about.

I must say that these two were not like most couples I meet. Nowadays everybody is more worried about getting ready + movie-like portraits after the ceremony. With them, they didn’t want to waste time with that at all. They just wanted to capture moments as they happen and really classic family portraits to keep (I prefer to keep family photos private, so unfortunately you won’t be able to see the amazing family portrait we got to take at the Four Seasons Hotel).

Anne and Richard were really shy when it came to posing, but they did great. Let’s face it, they are a pretty good-looking couple so there’s no way a picture won’t look good if they are in it. :)

I will miss this couple! Hayley and Dave were such a fun twosome to be around. I clearly remember driving to their hotel under the heaviest rain ever, hoping for it to be done by the time we needed to go outside. Even though the rain was gone by the time we had to go outside, everything was pretty wet so we couldn’t walk that much before the ceremony, but we still manage to get some great images.

They got married at the beautiful Eglinton Grand. One of my favorite features of that venue is the first dance with all the guests watching from above. Let me share some of my favorite moments from the day with you all.

Hayley and Dave, you two are perfect together. Congratulations and best wishes always!

It takes me at least a good couple of hours to write a wedding blog post. I have to go through hundreds of pictures and choose around 100 images so I’m able to tell a story. I have to resize the images and even edit some! You see, I like to blur all pictures where the couple’s last names are shown. I could just leave those images out, but in this case, I loved Rachel’s wedding dress hanger so much, I had to post it.

This is Rachel and Michael’s wedding and my first time at the Black Creek Pioneer Village – what an amazing venue! Actually, it was my first wedding of the year where we could go outside for pictures. Yes, weather is pretty nasty this year and I’m really tired of having to reschedule shoots and, with weddings, shooting indoors! Hopefully, summer is here to stay and all this rain should be gone soon!

The truth is I shouldn’t really be working on my blog since I have a bunch of shoots to edit – so I won’t talk much. Please enjoy their beautiful wedding day! :)

Congrats, Rachel and Mike!

I used to write drafts about the weddings I wanted to post on my blog right after I finished editing all the images, but unfortunately that’s not true anymore. Working every weekend and having thousands of images to look through (and a two year old running around the house) doesn’t leave me time to do that anymore. I always limit the number of weddings I shoot per year, but maybe it’s time I limit my family photo sessions as well. =/

And the problem with taking so long to post about a past wedding is that I don’t remember much to write about. Lisa and Edward’s was definitely one of my favorites to shoot. It was really intimate and beautiful. They didn’t care about throwing a huge party/reception aftwards, which is rare nowadays. They just wanted to gather all the loved ones to celebrate this important day at church.

After the ceremony, we had a delicious lunch and drove to the Bluffer’s park for some portraits. It was pretty windy and cold, but they came out gorgeous!! We had a bit of sunshine for about 2 min and with that tiny amount of time I got my favorite wedding image from last year. You’ll see when you scroll down (it’s also on my portfolio). Love that place.

Congrats, Lisa and Edward! Wishing you all the best in your life. :)

Top 3 things to consider when choosing your wedding photographer:

#1 You must love the photographer’s work (or at least like a whole lot): if you can’t go through the photographer’s blog posts (it doesn’t matter if it’s wedding related or not), this means he/she is not the right photographer for you;
#2 You must get along with your photographer: that’s why we should ALWAYS meet up before signing any agreements. I’ve been trying really hard to schedule meetings with ample time to chat about all your big day’s details, but sometimes that’s just not possible, especially if you want to meet during weekends. So the best thing is to schedule a meeting during the weekdays – otherwise you might get the impression I’m in a rush to end the meeting (on weekends, I usually squeeze meetings between photo shoots).
#3 Rates that fit your budget: you can check out my starting rates on the top menu – if I was the bride, I wouldn’t really like photographers that do not post their rates on their website. I just think it saves time for both of us.

Noor considered all these 3 things above when booking me. She was having a South Asian wedding and was not concerned at all that I wasn’t a photographer that just shot Indian/Pakistani weddings; she said she liked all my blog posts because I was able to capture amazing moments, so thank you Noor, for trusting my work. We got along so well that by the end of our meeting we were talking cosmetics and girly stuff. :)

Noor and Omar’s henna party/wedding this past August was filled with color, singing, dancing and emotion. What more can I ask for? Let me share a few images with you.

Congrats, Noor and Omar! It was a pleasure shooting your big day. :)
